Guide to Salavan Now Online:

The LNTA’s Web-based Knowledge Center has added “A Guide to Salavan” to the site’s growing list of online provincial and tour circuit guides, brochures, and maps. The 48-page guide presents in-depth information on a range of attractions and activities few have seen, and charts four easy-to-follow tour circuits with maps that explore the Tad Lo Waterfall Park, weaving communities employing obscure methods and looms, Indochina War relics, Bolaven Plateau viewpoints, and little-known ethnic groups. Southern Laos’s Salavan Province is quickly and easily accessed from Pakse.

Unseen Vientiane by Bicycle:

Exotissimo Travel has begun offering a new three-day cycling tour of the Lao capital, “Unseen Vientiane”. The program starts with “Insight into Lao Crafts”, a presentation by a local expert with proceeds going to charity. “Explore Buddhism” comes next and combines a Buddhist education with a market visit, Lao dining, cultural performance, and Lao massage. During “Wat Sokapaluang”, guests present alms to monks, and visit a forest temple. The tour has become popular as it dedicates itself to ideas and concepts crucial to Lao history and culture, but aren’t easy to find or access.

Northern Heritage Route Picks Up Steam:

DEA-A Lao Travel recently added Viengxay Cave City and Houaphan Province to its Vientiane-Vang Vieng-Luang Prabang-Xienghouang-Vientiane program thus completing the Northern Heritage Route, which also takes in hot springs, caves, waterfalls, and an ethnic village visit.

Travelers inspect the Viengxay Cave complex that housed thousands during the Indochina Wars and served as the Lao revolutionary movement’s headquarters. This tour leg also visits Houaphan Province’s natural attractions.
