A northern province between Luang
Namtha, Phongsaly, Bokeo, Xayaboury and Luang Prabang Provinces.
There are no national
protected areas.
: Hmong, Akha, Khmu and
others.
The countryside of Oudomxai offers a
very good sample of what northern Laos has to offer, with virtually
no tourists to be seen.
Although Oudomxai does not have a national protected area, it
does have some of the thickest forests in northern Laos. The
province is a good location for visiting Hmong and Khmu villages,
and it is also known for its natural hot springs in Muang La and some
spectacular waterfalls, most of which are still untouched and
undeveloped. A new one-day tour led by local guides to the Nam
Kat Waterfall has recently been developed with German technical
assistance and can be booked Oudomxai Tourist Information.
