Ecotourism Laos Goes Virtual

Visitors to Ecotourism Laos can now take a virtual tour of some 400 locations throughout the country thanks to UK-based Tour Vista. Accessed from Ecotourism Laos’ Map and Photo Gallery pages, the interactive virtual tour/Google map interface allows visitors to zoom in and out while rotating the view 360°.

Upon presenting the virtual tour to Ecotourism Laos, Tour Vista’s Thomas Williams said: “I am very passionate about Laos, and for that reason I feel that I would like to contribute my work to help develop sustainable tourism.” Tour Vista has also produced photographic prints and made a children’s education book for SEDA Laos.

Xe Pian NPA Launches Website

Tourists and naturalists seeking more information on activities available in Champasak Province’s Xe Pian National Protected Area (NPA) can now log on to www.xepian.org. The dedicated site presents descriptions of half- and full-day trekking programs as well as booking instructions. Information can also be found on Xe Pian NPA’s one- and two-night camping trips available from Kiet Ngong Village. Pages on the new Xe Pian site can also be accessed from www.ecotourismlaos.com/activities.

Presiding over the launch, LNTA Minister and Chairman Somphong Mongkhonvilay said: I am convinced that by strengthening…the technical capacity of our people we can improve service quality in our tourism industry which will have the end result of expanding opportunities for employment and profit…

The formulation of this strategy falls under Lux-Development Project LAO/020 initiated by the Government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, which is committed to assisting Lao PDR in strengthening human resources in the hospitality and tourism industry.
