World Ecotourism Conference 2009 in Laos

Laos is hosting the World Ecotourism Conference 2009 – New Paradigms and Resilience for Sustainable and Responsible Tourism in Developing Countries – in Vientiane on 15-17 July. The Lao National Tourism Administration aims to attract major ecotourism players and travel professionals to network and share experiences, best practices and technology. Responsible Tours in Laos: New for 2009

The Lao Association of Travel Agents (LATA) has published Responsible Tours in Laos: New for 2009, a selection of responsible tour programs presented by LATA members. Each of the 20 entries provides tour details and an explanation of how it is 'responsible'. The booklet will soon be online at www.latalaos.org, or contact [email protected] for more information.

The Guide to Responsible Tourism in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam is now available online at ExploreMekong.org/ responsible, and features more than 20 responsible tourism activities in Laos. This publication inspired the website for responsible tourism in the Mekong, which is being developed to expand the potential readership of the book and the geographical coverage of its content.
