New Tourism Information Center in Khammouane

Khammouane Province has a new tourism information center located in Thakek. The office has information displays on various tourism attractions around the province, as well as informational brochures and maps that you can take away. You can also book locally guided treks to the Phou Hin Poun National Protected Area, Kong Lor Cave and Buddha Cave from the local guide service that operates from the center. The center is located near the Ferris wheel on the same street as the BCEL Bank near the Phou Kana Guesthouse.

Trekking in the Phou Xieng Thong National Protected Area, Champassak Province

This newly opened trek is located in the Phou Xieng Thong National Protected Area in the northern corner of Champassak Province . The one-day trek is led by knowledgeable local guides who will teach you about medicinal plants and orchids and show you some of the mountain's magnificent volcanic rocky outcrops and cliffs. This location is accessible by boat only. Due to its remote location, overnight homestay in Ban Mai Singsamphan village is necessary. For more information visit the Tourism Information Center in Pakse, Champassak Province or click here for a full itinerary to Khong Mountain.

Tis the Season to Go Trekking

As the weather cools down to moderate temperatures and the rains subside, now is the ideal time to go trekking in Laos. There are a variety of treks designed for all levels and interests available throughout the country. For trek itineraries and descriptions check out our Trekking page located under Activities.
