Handicraft Name: Wood & Stone Sculptures in Ban Nong Beung

Ethnic Group: Ta Oy

Location: Ban Nong Beung Village , Champassak Province

Description: Wooden and stone sculptures of varying sizes and shapes are produced by hand in the ethnic Ta Oy village, Ban Nong Beung. Carvings include artistic sculptures of people and animals as well as traditional masks used in ceremonies. These sculptures are unique to this ethnic group of southern Laos , and are produced in perhaps only a few villages in the entire region. Ban Nong Beung (not located on the map) is located 42 km south of Pakse down Route 13, about 2 km off the road.
