Map of Pakse (Champassak) Environs
Description: Don Kho is one of the most important places for traditional silk weaving in Champassak Province , if not the southern region of Laos , and creates spectacular patterns such as the moon pattern. Visiting the island, one can take a brief walk around and find women weaving in the shade underneath their houses. Homestays are available on the island and include homemade food and a tour of the island's attractions. For those staying overnight it is possible to have your homestay family teach you how to weave. Just ask. From Pakse town one can hire a tuk tuk to Ban Saphai (about 15 km away) and then take a short boat ride across the Mekong River to Don Kho.
